The Jonathan Academy of Science is part of a much larger vision. Founded in 2021, the Jonathan Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives through education, healthcare, and community development in Rwanda.

Our commitment extends far beyond the Academy. Through our work at Dihiro School and the Abana Project, we support children and families at every stage of their educational journeys, from early childhood education to primary and secondary school and beyond.

By improving access to quality education, building classrooms and essential community infrastructure, supporting vulnerable families, and investing in local communities, we aim to create opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Our programs are designed not only to meet immediate needs but also to build confidence, encourage independence, and empower young people to reach their full potential.

Together, these initiatives reflect our long-term commitment to building stronger communities and creating lasting opportunities for future generations in Rwanda.

EDUCATION IN ACTION

Dihiro School

Transforming Education, Creating Opportunities

Groupe Scolaire Dihiro is a government school in Gashora serving over 2,500 students, from early childhood through secondary education.

Since 2021, the Jonathan Foundation has worked in partnership with Groupe Scolaire Dihiro and the local community to transform the school's learning environment. Through significant investments in infrastructure, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, a new kitchen and dining facility, improvements to school buildings, and access to clean water, electricity, and the internet, we are creating a safer, better-equipped environment where students can learn and thrive.

Our commitment extends beyond improving school facilities. We provide nutritious school meals, educational sponsorships, medical care, and specialized support for children with disabilities, helping remove barriers to education and giving every student a greater opportunity to succeed.

These efforts have contributed to improved educational outcomes, including higher graduation rates and more students pursuing college and university education. By investing in both the quality of education and the well-being of students, we are helping young people reach their full potential and build brighter futures.

Community Initiative

The Abana Project

Abana, meaning “children,” is our commitment to the young people and families surrounding Dihiro School. Together with the Jonathan Foundation, the project reaches beyond the classroom to strengthen the whole community.

The Abana Project is a community-centered initiative dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, teen mothers, and families in Gashora.

Founded in 2021, the Abana Project has grown through strong community relationships and a shared commitment to creating brighter futures. Today, we support over 250 children and young adults.

Through our daycare, nursery school, educational sponsorships, and community programs, we provide children with a safe, nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and simply enjoy being kids.

Our work also extends to teen mothers, helping young women return to school while their babies receive loving care in our daycare. Through vocational training, mentorship, and educational support, we empower these young mothers to build brighter futures for themselves and their children.

From nutritious meals and school supplies to creative activities, tutoring, and family assistance, the Abana Project is about more than meeting basic needs. It is about creating a community where every child and family feels supported, valued, and given the opportunity to succeed.
